Contact us today for a Proposal
Many people hesitate too long to contact an architect. Before you look at existing buildings or consider buying land, let us help you decide how big your building and site need to be. We help you determine these factors by learning about your operation, identifying better ways to use space to fulfill your needs, and we understand zoning and building codes so you stay in compliance with those requirements. Give us a call and we will prepare an outline of the services you need to get you started.
Our Services
We offer expertise in many areas. In project development, we become the client's consultant, guide, and advocate in charting the building process. For optimal results, we emphasize the following:
- Clearly communicating project needs, scope, and expectations
- Documenting project requirements
- Adhering to project budgets by prioritizing building features
- Flexibility to meet changing project and client needs
- Experience and interest in using alternate energy sources
- Concern for natural resources and using environmentally-friendly building materials
- Technically superior construction drawings and specifications
- Very low number and cost of change orders during construction
- Fostering a spirit of teamwork within the design and the construction teams
- Planning for future expansion
Architectural Services
Services are custom designed for each project and for the capabilities of the Owner. Services typically include:
- Needs Assessment
- Space Programming
- Schematic Design
- Design Development
- Construction Documents
- Bidding
- Construction Administration
Planning Services
Master planning enables an Owner to undertake a multi-phased project with the confidence that the various phases will meet the needs of space and funding. We modify existing structures and design new ones with inherent provisions for the future of the building and the organization.
Consulting Services
Consulting is available for matters such as historic preservation, zoning issues, and feasibility studies, among others. This service is appropriate when clients are exploring possible projects and the soundness of a structure, for instance, or as a precursor to architectural services. We provide proposals based on design-build, design-bid-build, and partnerships wherein we form the team that is most ideally suited to your project. This team is chosen from our many long-lasting associations with engineers, consultants, and contractors. We offer three-dimensional renderings and virtual walkthroughs of proposed designs. We welcome Requests for Proposal by mail or by email to our Office Manager, Justin Hoff, justinh@martindesignpc.com.
Energy and the Environment
Almost everyone is concerned about our environment these days. Some are concerned about the cost of energy, some about declining resources, and some about the spread of pollution and the destruction of our natural resources. We strive to create buildings that address all of these issues and more. Using a mixture of practical everyday solutions and some relatively innovative concepts we seek to reduce the amount of energy and non-renewable resources used by our buildings.
Historic Preservation
Why preserve a building? Reusing an existing building can often save considerable amounts of money and environmental resources, and may actually work better for you than a new building. The more traditional answer to this question is that saving an existing building preserves the historic fabric of our communities and passes the story of where we came from onto future generations. We firmly believe that as well, but also see old buildings as functional, contributing parts of our community.
Storm Shelters and Safe Rooms
What do storm shelters and safe rooms have to do with architecture? Part of our charge as licensed professionals is to protect the public. For too long we have designed buildings that had little concern for the safety of its occupants in case of adverse weather. Due to construction costs, for too long we have justified bypassing this discussion or putting the topic too low on our list of priorities to be considered. Not all buildings can offer protection, but we are placing more emphasis upon looking at the available options. This includes making more use of Federal and State programs for assistance in building storm shelters and safe rooms.
