October 7th, 2009 – Two buildings designed by Martin Design were awarded "Community Pride Awards" by the Marion Chamber of Commerce
The Marion Chamber of Commerce has awarded two buildings designed by Martin Design a, Community Pride Award. The awards were judged on the following criteria: enhancement to the attractiveness of Marion, compatibility with the area and environment, creativity/innovation in design and use of materials, enhancement in quality of life and promotion of pride in Marion and commitment to Marion’s future.
Winning the award for the new construction category was Hand in Hand Daycare, which is a new 6,500 square foot childcare facility. This new building reflects the quality of land development and building design that Marion is seeking to encourage. The daycare and developer saw the value of a quality building project as a positive influence upon their businesses, not as added expense.
Vector Corporation took home the award for the $0 - $250,000 category. Vector Corp. manufactures and sells its equipment all over the world. Their office building was a dated, simple facility that did not reflect the sophistication or international component of their current marketplace. The new renovation draws upon the qualities of Midwestern living with the limestone, but shows how it can enhance a constantly moving and vibrant new image that reflects their international presence.
